Persons Are Sentenced in Court

Robert Allen Pope was sentenced to spend 12 months in a long term substance abuse treatment facility on a negotiated plea to burglary in the first degree and burglary in the second degree during a busy criminal trial session that began last week in Jasper Superior Court under the jurisdiction of Judge Trenton Brown, III.

Mr. Pope was initially sentenced to 20 years for both counts and following his time in the treatment center will serve the remainder on probation.

Joshua David Coker was sentenced to enter the Georgia Department of Corrections residential substance abuse treatment program for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. Initially given 10 years for the offense, he was sentenced to 180 days in Jasper County jail which was suspended. He was credited for time served since August 2016 and fined $2,000.

Owen Daley was sentenced to 90 days in Jasper County jail with the remainder of a 10 year term served on probation for criminal attempt to commit statutory rape and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. He was fined $1,000.

Defendants receivng probation included:

Brent Beatty, four years for two counts of possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, and simple battery. Fined $1,500.

Brittany Wilkie, three years for posession of marijuana and possession of methamphetamine. Fined $1,000.

Kaci Wages, three years for possession of methamptemine. Fined $1,000.

Clinton Dunn, three years for possession of methamphetamine. Fined $1,000.

Patrick Latibeaudiere, two years for battery and simple assault. Fined $400.

Garry Morgan, two years for possession of marijuana, simple assault, and simple battery. Fined $1,000.

Donney Scandrett, two years for disorderly conduct and theft by shoplifting. Fined $700.

Tyson Dubose, one year for improper passing. Fined $200.

Brandon Egnor, one year for discharge of gun near highway and reckless conduct. Fined $500.

Michael Edwards, one year for operating a vessel when privilege is suspended. Fined $400.

Roland Beatty, one year for battery.

Tiffany Simmons, one year for disrupting public school. Fined $400.

Teresa Sanchez, one year for disorderly conduct. Fined $400.

Luscious Odom, Jr., one year for possession of marijuana. Fined $500.

Michael Lyons, one year for possession of marijuana and public drunkenness. Fined $500.

Vashon Traylor, one year for simple battery. Fined $500.

Jonquavis Dumas, one year for simple assault. Fined $500.

William Hunter, one year for failure to maintain lane, drivng on wrong side of roadway, failure to stop at stop sign, and taillight violation. Fined $350.

Kevin Torrance, one year for driving under the influence following one day in jail. Fined $500.

Madison Brandford, fined $181 for open container charge.

Bench warrants were issued for the following individuals who did not appear in court at the beginning of last week for offenses listed on the cort docket:

Benjamin Perkins (hindering emergency telephone call and criminal trespass), Hakeel Norwood burglary in the first degree), Colette James aggravated assault), Demarcus Sands (obstruction of an officer), and Kenneth Rickett (burglary in the first degree and public drunkenness).

Judge Brown also ordered pre-trial diversions for Damon Green defending a simple assault charge and Destiny Avery for a theft by taking charge.

Jasper Superior Court cases that were not reviewed during last week’s abbreviated session, due to the Thanksgiving holiday, were continued this week.
