Katie Bonita Jolley Voyles

Katie Bonita Jolley Voyles, age 85, passed away Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017, at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle.

Nita Voyles was born in Geraldine, Ala. to the late Thara Thomas Jolley and Ivella Smith Jolley. She lived in Riverdale, Ga. for a few years before making her home in Monticello 50 years ago. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, John Edward Voyles in 2012.

Nita Voyles was a member of the Monticello Baptist Church. She loved to sew and cook; and worked in the cafeteria at Piedmont Academy for a number of years. She worked on the family farm and the cows were her treasure. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons, Blake Edward (Kim) Voyles of Douglas, Dwight Alan (Jennie) Voyles of Douglasville and Clint Wade (Tina) Voyles of Monticello; grandchildren, C. J. Voyles, Kristen Voyles, Travis Voyles, Wade Voyles, Lauren Voyles and Kelsey Voyles; great-grandchildren, Johnathan Voyles, Jade Voyles, Hunter Voyles, Easton Voyles and Taylor Voyles; and sisters, Peggy Stevens of Marietta, JoAnn Oswald of West Palm Beach, Fla. and Bobbie Brown of Conyers.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, at the Monticello Baptist Church. A private family interment will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, December 4, 2017, at Williams Payne Cemetery. Rev. David Artessa and Dr. Robert Whitmire will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 6 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, at Monticello Baptist Church, prior to the service.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Monticello Baptist Church 334 W. Greene Street Monticello, Georgia 31064.
