Mrs. Alice Mae Jones Hendricks

Mrs. Alice Mae Jones Hendricks was born on July 22, 1930 to Deacon Jessie and Emma Lou Jones of Monticello. She passed away Saturday, Dec. 2, at Spalding Regional Hospital in Griffin.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 9 at New Bethel Grove Baptist Church in Monticello with Rev. Lucious Solomon, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Hendricks had two older sisters that preceded her in death, Mrs. Selena Jones Wyatt of Atlanta, and Mrs. Mary D. Jones Thomas of Monticello.

Mrs. Hendricks grew up in Jasper County and joined New Bethel Grove Baptist Church early in life. She was a faithful and dedicated member for over 70 years. She loved God and enjoyed singing old gospel hymns. She did not attend high school but she was very knowledgeable of medical terms and medications. She was employed at the Shrimp Boat and the Peach Canning Factory of Monticello for several years.

On August 30, 1963 Alice joined in holy matrimony to Raymond Hendricks. The couple raised three children Attorney Ronny Jones, Deacon Herbert Hendricks (Rosa) and Mia Hendricks Wise (David).

Mrs. Hendricks was a dedicated wife and mother. She stressed the importance of Christian values to her children. Alice was confined to her home in her later years due to health issues. Since 2010, she resided at Renaissance Nursing Home in Griffin. Even though she was not in the best of health, Alice continued to attend church services and praise God.

Mrs. Hendricks is survived by her husband, three children, five grandchildren including Kadeem and Adrian Hendricks of McDonough, Gabriella Jones of Monticello, Jada and Lannicia Wise of Forest Park, a great-grand-daughter Zariah Hendricks, McDonough, a host of neices and nephews, a sister and brother in-law Ruby and Guy Anderson of Atlanta, as well as many dear friends.
