Piedmont MS Teams Earn Wins

Piedmont Academy’s middle school basketball teams continued to enjoy success last week during the first part of the 2017-2018 season.

The middle school boys team, coached by Ron Holder, earned two victories, while the middle school Lady Cougars, coached by Lindsay Moore, earned one win.

Piedmont’s boys defeated Thomas Jefferson Academy 35-32 on the road in Louisville Friday behind 10 points from Ryan Holder. Dawson Coe added nine points while Ryan Reeves scored six points.

The Cougars trailed by three points at halftime but outscored the host Jaguars 22-16 in the second half.

David Bishop finished with four points while Hunter Robinson, Brody Anderson and Spencer Carter each scored two points.

The middle school boys also defeated Twiggs Academy last Thursday 44-31 in a home contest. Holder scored 12 points while Robinson also finished in double figures with 10 points. Coe added nine points while Jayce Wood totaled six points.

Landon Conner (three points), Cole Wade (two points) and Bishop (two points) also contributed offensively in the win.

Piedmont had a strong first half scoring 32 points.

The middle school Lady Cougars defeated visiting Twiggs Academy 20-7 behind a six-point effort from Maddie Waddleton. Raleigh Lofton and Marissa Holder both scored five points while Fleming Sealy and Hannah Tyler both had two points.

Piedmont’s girls fell to Thomas Jefferson the following day 30-14. Sealy and Waddleton led the team with four points with Tyler, Lofton and Bailey Mobley each scoring two points.

The middle school teams will play at Bethlehem Christian on Friday beginning at 3:30 p.m. followed by varsity action.
