Cane Baseball Is Under Way; Game Planned at SunTrust Park

Hurricane baseball began last week with a scrimmage against Heritage High School before the team planned to travel to Stratford Academy Wednesday for a non-conference matchup.

The varsity squad includes seniors Jeff Cain, Braden Lynch, Chance Peters, juniors Hunter Duke, Dylan Jackson, sophomores Matt Cain, Ben Lynch, Blane Marat, Tristan Reid, Thomas Reynolds, Tyler Wages, freshmen Mac Barton, Lance Drewery, Baylor Edge, Justyn Fields, Cole Hays, Tristan Humphreys, Trent Maddox, Chris Pittman, Dalton Ramey, and Graeme Williams.

Hurricane players and fans will have a special treat in store this season. On April 6, the Canes squad will play at the new home of the Atlanta Braves at SunTrust Park in Cobb County against Lamar County beginning at 4 p.m.

“Playing on a major league field is every baseball player’s dream, so when this opportunity was offered to us I didn’t hesitate to commit,” said Coach Jenkins. “I’m not sure who’s more excited, myself or the boys.”

Admission to the SunTrust Park event will be free.
