Gregory Leon Green

.A homegoing celebration for Gregory Leon Green, who died February 18, 2018, was held February 24 at Greenwood Baptist Church in Shady Dale. Bishop Nicolas Curry, pastor, officiated. Burial was in Shady Dale Community Cemetery.

Mr. Green was born in Shady Dale on April 4, 1958 to Annie Florence Green and raised by Martha and Robert Ross. He attended Jasper County Comprehensive High School, and was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church. He was a driver for Pitts Paving Company until retiring several years ago.

Mr. Green was preceded in death by a son, Stedman Deon Jackson, and a sister, Rosa Jackson.

He is survived by his loving wife, Loretta Jackson Green, his son, Brian Leon Green and three daughters, DeShanti’ Simmons of Madison, Jakia Mitchell and Shayla Jackson of Covington; two sisters, Brenda Jackson and Cynthia Jackson, both of Monticello; three brothers, O’Neal Green, Charles (JoAnn) Jackson of Monticello and Nicholas Jackson of Jackson.

Also, seven grandchildren, Martavious Hull, Layla Mitchell, Makyla, Makenzie, Makyle, and Makorey Gude opf Covington and unborn, Baby Green; eight nieces and nephews, two sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, and several best friends.

Pallbearers were Danny Norris, Cedric Stone, Carl Johnson, William Digby, Chris Bostwick, and Jimmie Whitlock. Family members and friend were flower aldies.

Smith and Sons Funeral Home was in charges of arrangements.
