Shirley Inez Moody Edwards

Shirley Inez Moody Edwards, age 69, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2018, at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle.

Shirley Edwards was born in Montgomery, Ala. to the late William Randol Moody and Trudy Inez Sexton Moody. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her baby brother, William Randol Moody, Jr.

Shirley grew up in Phenix City, Ala., and married her husband, Charlie in 1966. They moved to Monticello in 1972. She worked as the Jasper County librarian; paraprofessional for Jasper County School System; and Harris Sample Book for a number of years. Her greatest accomplishment was being a pastor’s wife.

Shirley enjoyed quilting; and singing at church. Charlie and Shirley held a campground ministry at Elijah Clark State Park in Lincolnton.

She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Charlie A. Edwards of Monticello; daughters, Ellen (Owen) Bales and Sharon (D. Craig) Salmon of Monticello; grandchildren, Stephanie (Ross) Hays, Celeste Bales, Craig M. (Erin) Salmon, Sonya (Charles) Joyner, Jamie Bales and Jason Salmon; great- grandchildren, Sarah Hope Hays, Ivory Grace Hays and Melinda Joy Hays; and sister, Sandra Monte of Salem, Ala., and brother, Rusty (Tammy) Moody of Phoenix City, Ala.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 4, 2018, at the chapel of Jordan Funeral Home. Interment will be held in Williams Payne Cemetery. Rev. Danny Sorrells will officiate.

Serving as pallbearers will be Owen Bales, D. Craig Salmon, Craig M. Salmon, Ross Hays, Charles Joyner and Brady Butler.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Jordan Funeral Home.

The family suggests donations in lieu of flowers to Abbey Hospice, 215 Azalea Court, Social Circle, Ga. 30025.

Jordan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
