Lady Cane Tracksters Finish First
The Monticello Middle School (MMS) girls track had their first meet of the season on March 14 defeating Putnam and Morgan counties to bring home first place honors.
The MMS ladies earned a total of 72 points doubling Morgan’s 36 points and Putnam’s 34.
The squad is coached by Shakerria Middlebrooks. The events and placements are as follows:
Shot Put—first place Jasmine Stone and third place Layla Jackson.
Long Jump—fourth place Sarah Carnes.
Triple Jump—first place Sarah Carnes and second pl;ace Kate Miller.
High Jump—first place Avery Barton.
Discuss—second place Kate Robinson and fourth place Kimmyah Epps.
3200 meters—first place Becky Wilson and fourth place Carly Whitmire
4×100 Relay Team 1— first place with 55 seconds were Cartajiah Jackson, Kimmayah Epps, Sarah Carnes, and Avery Barton.
4x 100 Relay Team 2— second place with 56 seconds were Jenya Norwood, Kate Miller, Jasmine Stone, and Orie Thurman.
1600 meters—first place Becky Wilson.
400 meters—first place Avery Barton and fourth place Taliyah Sellers.
100 meter hurdles—first place Kate Miller and second place Cartajah Jackson
800 meter—first place Jakara Tobler.
200 meter—first place Orie Thurman and foruth place Sarah Carnes.
4×400 relay—first place team was Sarah Carnes, Kimmayah Epps, Avery Barton, and Cartajah Jackson.
Second place was Jakara Tobler, Tyliya Sellers, Orie Thurman, and Kate Miller.
