Mrs. Bernice ‘Bonnie’ Braswell Jones
A celebration of life for Mrs. Bernice “Bonnie” Braswell Jones, who died March 24, 2018, was held March 28, at Holy Nation Church in Hillsboro. Apostle James Braswell officiated; Bishop Patricia Standifer is pastor. Burial was in the Braswell Family Cemetery in Hillsboro.
Pallbearers were Tony Braswell, Rashad Davis, Rory Cargile, Justin Bostic, Eddie Standifer, and Harold Dumas. Family and friends were flower bearers.
Mrs. Jones, the beloved daughter of the late Rosa Mae Braswell and Jessie James Braswell was born on March 31, 1947 in Round Oak. She left her home town at the early age of 17 to start a new life in Atlanta. On January 20, 1968, she married Albert Jones, Jr. Their union blessed them with two children, Erik Jones and Jennifer Jones Wade. Mrs. Jones worked many years as a supervisor at Sears and later as a certified medical assistant where she cared for others in need. She was a very hardworking lady.
Mrs. Jones grew up in the church and always had a strong belief and faith in Christ. She was an active and dedicated member of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church.
She was known for her “Diva Sass” and tell it like it is attitude. She had a way of always bringing everyone she knew laughter. As a result of her generous spirit and comedic personality, she was loved by many. She will truly be missed by us all.
After a long battle with diabetes, Mrs. Jones peacefully passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2108. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Christine Lombard and Jessie Alexander, and a brother, Albert Braswell.
Her beautiful life will be cherished in the lives of her children, Erik Enrico Jones (Tameka) and Jennifer Jones Wade of Lithonia; four grandchildren, Deyana “Yanie” Clay of Lithonia, Erika Jones of Decatur, Jemonte Burks of Monroe, and Anthony Wade of Lithonia; a great-grandchild, Harmonia Dugger of Decatur; six sisters, Linda Jones (Fred) of Newnan, Gwendolyn Davis, Patricia Braswell Standifer (Darnell), and Leah Dumas (Harold), all of Hillsboro, Debra Braswell of Covington and Connie Braswell Gray (Eddie) of Stockbridge; four brothers, Early Braswell (Mary), James Anthony Braswell, and Donnie Braswell (April), all of Round Oak, James and James Anthony Braswell of Covington. Also a hosts of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Smith and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
