Diamond Cougars Win Before Break
Piedmont Academy’s varsity baseball team earned a 9-3 win against Class AAA John Milledge Academy last Thursday and will now have several days rest due to spring break.
Coach Wes Tanner was pleased with his team performed in the home win.
“It was by far our best offensive performance of the season,” Tanner said. “It was good to see us break through right before spring break.”
The game was somewhat of a regular season marquee matchup between Piedmont, the defending GISA AA champion, and JMA, the defending AAA champion.
Clay Jones started the game on the pitcher’s mound and earned the win for the Diamond Cougars who are now 7-3-1.
The team is off this week and will return to action Tuesday against region foe Windsor Academy at home. Piedmont is 4-1 in region play. The lone region setback was by one run.
