Cora Elizabeth Carter
Cora Elizabeth Carter, 86, died April 7, 2018 in Mansfield Memorial Homes, in Mansfield, Ohio.
Mrs. Carter was born April 22, 1931 to the late Ulysses and Viola (Ridley) LaVaughn in Hillsboro. In 1975 Cora returned to Hillsboro where she became self-employed as a private caregiver retiring in 2003. She was a member of the Maddox Chapel Baptist Church in Hillsboro. Cora move to Mansfield in 2017. Her joy was gardening.
Cora is survived by her six children: Dorothy Campbell, Chesterfield “C” (Sarah) Carter, Jr. with whom she made her home, and Thomas (Diane) Rooks, Mansfield, Patricia (Norvel) Patterson, Tocoma, Drucilla (Leslie) Robinson, Las Vegas, Nev., and Thurman Carter, San Bernadino, Calif.; five step children who she loved as her own: Pearline Lindsay, Irene Johnson, Alverta Williams, Mansfield, Minnie Brooks, Columbus, and Willie Martin, Indianapolis, Ind. brother, James Ridley, Jr, Macon; cousin who she treated as her brother, Willie Joe Driskell, Monticello, and a host of grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 13, at 6 p.m. in the Oasis of Love Church by Dr. Walter E. Jordan, II. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the funeral service beginning at 5 p.m. until time of service. Interment will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Mansfield Cemetery.
