MONTICELLO COMMUNITY BAND SPRING CONCERT

“The American Spirit” was the theme for the Monticello Community Band concert held last Friday at the Jasper County High School Auditorium. In addition to seven musical pieces, several members of the community provided readings introducing the music. They included David Dyer, Betty Jean Jordan, Elvis Singleton, and Paul Holmes.

The next concert will be a Memorial Day concert on Monday, May 28, at Thomas Persons Hall lawn. Barbecue plates will be available from the Jasper County Historical Foundation at 6 p.m., and the free concert begins at 7 p.m. Conductors for Friday’s concert were Chris Savage and Matthew Jernigan.
