DDA Board, Others Are Trained

The Downtown Development Authority hosted a Downtown Development Authority Basic Training Class in Monticello Monday, April 9 in the Government Complex.

Nineteen participants completed the eight-hour program of instruction and were presented a certificate of completion.

Ann Arnold, former Director of Downtown Development for the city of Rome, conducted the eight-hour Downtown Development Authority training. Ann has over 30 years’ experience working with DDAs and Main Streets all over the state of Georgia. She earned the Georgia Master Downtown Development Professional Certification, the National Main Street Program Certification, and was an organizing member of the Georgia Downtown Association.

Training topics included: What is a Downtown Development Authority and your role as a board member, Understanding the Main Street 4 Point Approach, DDA Law, Board Development, and Financing Tools for the DDA. This class is a required training for Downtown Development Authorities.

Class participants included City Council Members Jenny Murphy and David Wease, Downtown Development Authority Members Wanda Cummings, Towonder Dennis, Judy Hunsucker, Martha King, and Russ Watts.

Other participants included Tamala Alexander, Sandi Blalock, Katie Cannon, Barbara Hirsch, Nathaniel Long, Pam Mayer, Adam McGinnis, Ben Perry, and Renae Watts.

Also, from the city of Perry Chad Bryant, and the city of Hampton Kim Potts and Ann Tarpley.

Pam Mayer is the local DDA director. She arranged the training event to be held in Monticello.
