The Monticello Hurricane varsity baseball squad was offered a chance of a lifetime this season to play at SunTrust Stadium, the new home of the Atlanta Braves, located in Cobb County.

The Canes took on Lamar County last Friday and came up just short falling 3-2 but the luster of playing in the major league stadium was pure gold for the team. “It’s hard to put into words what that experience was like,” said Hurricane Head Coach Chris Jenkins. “The look on the boys and coaches faces when we left the locker room and reached the part of the steps where the stadium started to come into view, is something I’ll never forget.”
