PA Golfers Attend Region

A quartet of Piedmont Academy golfers competed at the region tournament Monday at Jennings Mill Country Club.

Facing extreme playing conditions, the Cougars finished fourth overall as a team. Piedmont was represented by Matthew Griffin, Logan Conner, Landon Conner and Sam Younker.

“The conditions were miserable,” said coach Will Johnson. “It was a tough course to begin with and then we were playing in 45 degree weather with the wind around 25 miles per hour.”

Ironically, the weather in the area improved drastically in days following the region tournament. Johnson said it would have benefited his players to have been able to compete a day or two later.

“But you have to play in whatever the day brings,” the coach said.

The region tournament concludes the 2018 season for the Cougar golfers.
