Edgar Norman Derricho, Sr.
A celebration of life for Edgar Norman Derricho, Sr., is being held on Saturday, May 5, 2018, 11 a.m. at Greenwood Baptist Church, 240 Aikenton Road, Monticello, GA 31064, Bishop Nicholas Curry, Pastor. Reverend Bennie Dearro of Midway Church will be officiating. Burial will follow at Midway Cemetery.
Public viewing will be held on Friday, May 4, 2018, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Smith & Sons Funeral Home.
Edgar Norman Derricho, Sr. was born on July 28, 1937 in Shady Dale, GA. He was the first-born child of Norman Derricho and Julia Mae Gude Derricho. He had two brothers and five sisters. He was a faithful member of Midway Church, where he served as a Deacon for many years.
Mr. Derricho enjoyed a very fulfilling life. He married Ruby Mae Sands in 1957 and they had five children. He retired from Yellow Freight in 1997, where he was a Freight Handler. He was a very proud and hard-working man.
Mr. Derricho loved his family and always provided great support and guidance. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Oscar Derricho; and three sisters Julia Ann Derricho, Dorothy Marie Derricho, and Dora Derricho Williams.
He leaves to cherish his wonderful memories his wife of 60 years, Ruby Mae Sands Derricho; three sons, Larry Darnell Derricho, Sr., Edgar Norman Derricho, II (Andie Clarice), and Johnny Matthew Derricho; two daughters, Ruby Lee Derricho Weems, and Norma Jean Derricho; eight grandchildren, Larry Derricho, Jr., Charles Weems III, Chandrika Derricho, Amber Derricho, Bryan Derricho, Edgar Derricho III, Brandon Derricho, and Taylor Derricho; three great-grandchildren, Kaden Derricho, Janiyah Morris, and London Derricho; brother, David Derricho, Sr.,; two sisters, Myles Louise Jenkins and Jewel Elizabeth Pope; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family of Edgar Norman Derricho, Sr. would like to express special thanks to Andie Clarice Derricho (sister-in-love), Jujuan Lewis (caregiver), and Aggie Paul (caregiver), for all their love, support, and assistance in caring for him. The family also wishes to extend our sincerest thanks to Halcyon House Hospice, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home, and Smith & Sons Funeral Home.
