Market Opens this Saturday

The Monticello-Jasper County Chamber of Commerce announces that the Market on the Square opens this Saturday, May 5. This weekly Saturday market is open from 8 a.m.- noon.

The season will kick-off with a “Shop Small,” “Shop Local.” theme. Come and shop from over 30 market vendors on the Square, says the Chamber.

Featured on opening day will be local singing artist Colt Lucas. He will be providing music from 10 a.m.-noon. Authors Stone Workman and Linda Aldridge will be autographing their children’s books, local notecards and postcards.

Fresh doughnuts will be available for purchase in the morning from St. James A.M.E. Church in Monticello.

Make plans to join the market for lunch and picnic on the Square! The First United Methodist Church Men’s Spring BBQ will be available for $8 per plate at 11:30 a.m. (until sold out).

This year, a new addition has been added to the market. On the first Saturday of each month direct sales and handmade crafts will be featured.

“You will be able to shop Lula Roe, Mary Kay, Tupperware, Avon, Scentsy, Wildtree Organics, Thirty-One, and more,” said the COC. Special music and themed weekends will be scheduled throughout the season.

The weather is predicted to be beautiful Saturday so join us. Season vendors are excited to share their weekly items with you. Look for seasonal favorites like homemade pies, canned goods, plants, herbs, fresh vegetables and fruits, goat cheese, soaps, baked items, pork skins, boiled peanuts and more!

The market is open until September 30th and is sponsored by the Monticello-Jasper County Chamber of Commerce. Persons interested in being a vendor may contact the COC at 706-468-8994 or at jasperchamber@bellsouth.net.
