Bessie Mae Glover

Bessie Mae Glover, the daughter of the late Mattie Moreland Glover and the late James Lee Glover, was born March 19, 1949 in Jasper County, Montciello, Ga.

She died May 6, 2018, at the Medical Center Navicent Health in Macon.

Services were held last Friday, May 11, at noon at New Life Outreach Christian Center in Eatonton. Elder James S. Kilgore, Sr., pastor, officiated. Bishop Nolan T. Torbert, Senior Pastor, True Deliverance Holiness Church in Auburn, Ala., presided.

Ms. Glover attended Jasper County Training School and has resided in Jasper County all her life. She also attended the Job Corps in Pennsylvania. She accepted Jesus Christ and was baptized in Jesus’ name at New Life Christian Center in Eatonton. Because of her declining health, her sisters would have services with her at her home.

In her early life, she played the piano by ear and could also sing. Bessie got along very well with people, especially children and elderly people. She never met a stranger. Bessie thoroughly enjoyed laughing and meeting people. She also really enjoyed her new found friends, Dr. Frankie Bell and Sis. Loretta Brown.

Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Ruby Lee Glover and Bertha Kate Glover, and one brother-in-law, Charles Jordan.

Bessie leaves behind to cherish her memory three sisters, Annie Ruth Glover of Monticello, Doris Jordan of Eatonton and Gail Diane Glover (Bishop Nolan) Torbert of Auburn, Ala., two brothers, Minister Tommy James (Christine) Glover of Shady Dale,, and Henry Franklin Glover of Monticello; three nephews, Lee Marvin Glover of Aiken, S.C., Bruce (Melinda) Glover of Monticello, and Nolan Tyrone (Deunta) Torbert, Jr., of Auburn, Ala., two nieces, Deana LaSha Torbert of Atlanta and Myra Chantil Jordan of Laurens, S.C.; two great nephews, Bruce Adam Glover, Jr., of Monticello and Nolan Tyrone (Tre) Torbert, III, of Auburn, Ala., and other relatives and friends.

Smith and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
