Several Are Arrested Here
Deputies with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office investigated a couple burglaries in the last week, including one on Alcovy North Drive. In that instance, a saw was taken, along with numerous pieces of jewelry.
Other incidents investigated included a report of forgery at Security Finance, and a mailbox theft on Jackson Lake Road.
Persons arrested in the last week include:
•Dawayne Michael Clark, 30, Covington—battery and cruelty to children-3rd degree (two counts).
•David Tyler Dickens, 21, Eatonton—probation violation.
•Jeremy Vance Elder, 31, Eatonton—possession of methamphetamine, crossing state/county guard lines with weapons/intoxicants or drugs.
•Jose Torres Hernandez, 28, Newborn—sale of methamphetamine.

•Evan Tanner Gerlach, 18, Monticello—purchase/possession/manufacture/distribute or sale of marijuana.
•Omarian Chilbua Ngalamulume, 18, Mansfield: purchase/possession/manufacture/distribute or sale of marijuana.
•Javonte Kesean Thurman, 20, Monticello—possession of marijuana less than an ounce.
•Ray Banks, 60, Monticello—probation violation.
•Craig Clifton Johnson, 47, Newborn—aggravated assault and battery.
•Vashon Leon Traylor, 29, Monticello—probation violation.
•Yalonda Calloway Childs, 55, Monticello—battery.
•MacKenzie Shayne Figueroa, 18, Monticello—burglary and theft by taking.
•Regina Danelle McKelvey, 39, Snellville—Jasper County Superior Court Bench warrant.
•Michael Anthony Dempsey, 18, Covington—possession of methamphetamine.
•Billy Wayne Gafford, 40, Mansfield—aggravated assault and battery.
•Kayla Rachelle Smith, 28, Monticello—failure to maintain lane and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs less safe.
•Terry Ted Tuggle, 53, Covington—hold for warrant in Rockdale County.
•David Christopher Hardwick, 52, Monticello—theft by shoplifting.
•MacKenzie Jeanette Johnson, 26, Monticello—theft by taking.
•William Joseph Biddy, Jr., 25, Scottsdale—probation violation.
Deputies also answered numerous calls of all types during the week, conducting 67 premises check, and 67 stopping suspicious person or vehicle. They served 50 civil papers, and directed traffic 29 times. Twenty times a subject needed an officer, and there were 11 roadway hazards.
Deputies responded to 12 fights, and eight mechanical breakdowns, pick up prisoner or subject, as well as seven threatening or harrassing calls, among numerous other call types.
