ELOST Passes; Kemp Beats Cagle Here

The question on local ballots Tuesday whether to approve an Education Local Option Sales Tax passed, receiving 62 percent of the vote. Some 1,121 voters said yes, while another 675 voted no. Just over 21 percent of registered voters voted in the primaries here Tuesday.

Locally, Brian Kemp beat Casey Cagle, the top two vote getters for the governor’s race on the Republican ticket. Those two candidates will square off in a run-off on July 24. Hunter Hill also received 10 percent of the local vote. The winner will face Stacy Abrams, the top vote getter both here and statewide for the Democratic nomination.
