Athletic Director Is Hired
Jasper County High School (JCHS) has hired a new Athletic Director (AD) to replace the departing AD and former football head coach Doug Huff.
Matthew Martin will begin AD duties beginning July 1. He is an alumni of University of Central Florida and has coached at Merritt Island High School in Florida and Cairo High School in South Georgia. He has coached on multiple region championship teams in Florida and has a strong background in strength and conditioning training.
Along with the AD position, Coach Martin will be serving as the offensive coordinator of the varsity Hurricane football team. He is married to Crystal Martin, an employee of the JCHS registrar’s office and they have two sons—Grant, 6 and Grady, 2.
“Our family is thrilled to be a part of the community in Monticello and we are looking forward to continuing to make this our home for years to come,” said Coach Martin. “I am excited for the opportunity to serve all of our student/athletes and coaches as the new Athletic Director.”
Principal Buddy Cain said that “Coach Martin brings a wealth of knowledge in athletics to Monticello and we look forward to his leadership in our athletic department.
