Jacquelynn Mozell Moore

A celebration of life of Jacquelynn Mozell Moore, who died May 24, was held Wednesday, May 30, at Freedonia A.M.E. Church in Monticello. Rev. Terry Glawson officiated; Rev. Herman Dennis is pastor. Burial was in the McMichael family cemetery.

Pallbearers were Samuel McMichael, Joseph McMichael, Robert Johnson, Richard Johnson, Donny Barron, and Willie Harris.

Ms. Moore was born to loving parents Eudena and Jack Moore on January 9, 1967 in Atlanta. A dedicated student, she graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1985. It is then that she began her career at Woolworth Retailers. During this time she married Robert Lee Rosser and became the mother of three children.

As times in Atlanta began to get more dangerous, she made the selfless decision to uproot her family and moved to Monticello. Now recently divorced with three kids, she gained employment first at Magic Market Convenience store, then both Circle K Convenience Store and Jasper County Primary School, working as a paraprofessional. In both avenues of work she was noted for her positive attitude, desire to learn and her smile.

It is no wonder her nickname, “Sweetpea” stuck with her. Her desire was to increase her knowledge through programs like Highscope to help serve her deep love of children.

However, tragedy struck in the form of a debilitating car accident. Recovering at the Sheppard Center, and with the help of her family, she began a new normal by assisting her family washing, drying, and folding clothes, cleaning, maintaining bills, and managing groceries. With her direction, all three of her children graduated high school on time. She cited this as her greatest accomplishment.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Eudena Moore.

Ms. Moore is survived by her three children, Robert, Michael, and Chelsea Rosser; three grandchildren, Kameran Rosser, Ariyah Goodson and Iyanna Goodson, and a host of close relatives and friends.

Smith and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
