Marie Sussie Flanigan White

Marie Sussie Flanigan White, age 94, of Mansfield, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018, at The Retreat Nursing Home.

Marie White was born in Stone Mountain, Ga.; and was raised in Klondike, Ga. Her parents were the late Oscar Flanigan and Effie Mae Baker Flanigan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, McAllen White; children, infant baby girl, Dorothy Jean W. Malin, Rose Marie W. Cash, Grady Marcus White and Matthew Lyn White; and brothers and sister, Howell Flanigan, Billy Flanigan, Benny Flanigan and Margaret Watson.

Marie White lived in Decatur before moving to Jasper County 21 years ago. She was a member of New Rocky Creek Baptist Church. She was a loving mother of 10 children and enjoyed gardening.

She is survived by her children, Ronald A. (Lela Mae) White of Social Circle, Dale White of Covington, Melvin White of Mansfield, Alice W. Daniel (Vincent “Chico” Valdez) of Shady Dale and Wanda W. Spriggs of Fort Worth, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; four great-great- grandchildren; and brothers, Ray Flanigan of Snellville and Carlton “Cotton” Flanigan of Villa Rica.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m.., Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at New Rocky Creek Baptist Church in Mansfield. Interment will be held in New Rocky Creek Church Cemetery. Dr. Randal Reese will officiate.

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Monday, July 9, 2018, at Jordan Funeral Home.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made in his name to the Jackson Lake Volunteer Fire Department, Station 1, 4431 Jackson Lake Road, Monticello, Ga. 31064; or New Rocky Creek Baptist Church, 190 Rocky Creek Road, Mansfield, G.a 30055.
