Grand Jury Indicts 30

The Grand Jury for the August 2018 term of the Jasper County Superior Court convened Monday to hear presentments from the District Attorney’s office with Judge William A. Prior, Jr. presiding.

The jury, composed of 23 individuals, reviewed 28 total indictments while issuing true bills for 26 of those.

In addition to the indictments reviewed, the grand jury found no need to further the inquiry into the Jasper County shooting death of Jeffrey Cantrell by a law enforcement officer in December 2017.

Indictments include the following individuals and charges:

•Jameal Jefferies, indicted on nine counts including three counts of aggravated assault, four counts of criminal damage to property in the first degree, possession of firearm during the commission of a felony, and posession of a firearm by first offender probationer.

•Kelvin Head, indicted on seven counts including two counts of fleeing/attempting to elude a police officer, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, improper passing on left, driving on left side of roadway, speeding, and violation of insrtuction permit.

•Joshua Freeman, indicted on six counts including five counts of aggravated child molestation, and sexual exploitation of children.

•Jerrilyn Edwards, indicted on six counts including driving under the influence (DUI) combined influence, DUI alcohol, failure to maintain lane, obstruction of an officer, crossing the guard line with contraband, and possession of marijuana less than an ounce.

•Emilio Nava Vazquez, indicted on seven counts including two counts of sale of methamphetamine, trafficking methamphetamine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana (more than an ounce), and possession of firearm during commission of a felony.

•Angela Gatica, indicted on six counts including sale of methamphetamine, trafficking methamphetamine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana (more than an ounce), and possession of firearm during commission of a felony.

•Jose Hernandez, indicted on one count of sale of methamphetamine.

•Joseph Newberry, indicted on five counts including two counts of fleeing/attempting to elude a police officer, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, driving while license suspended, and no tag.

•Nathaniel Dennis, indicted on four counts including fleeing/attempting to elude a police officer, reckless driving, speeding, and failure to stop at stop sign.

•Billy Wayne Gafford, indicted on four counts including three counts of aggravated assault and battery.

•Harry Lee Maddox, indicted on three counts including possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana less than an ounce, and open container.

•Omid Kamali, indicted on three counts including criminal attempt to commit child molestation, solicitation for sexual conduct with a child, and sexual exploitation of children.

•Craig Johnson, indicted on three counts including aggravated assault, aggravated battery-family violence, and battery, family violence.

•Robert Alvarado, indicted on three counts including aggravated assault, terroristic threats, and cruelty to children in the third degree.

•Doug Fields, indicted on three counts including two counts of terroristic threats, and simple assault, family violence.

•Jennifer Thomason, indicted on two counts including possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, and illegal use of communication facility.

•Christina Parker, indicted for illegal use of communication facility.

•William Wilson, indicted on two counts including aggravated assault and possession of firearm by convicted felon.

•Billy Watson, indicted on two counts including crossing the guard line with contraband and possession of marijuana less than an ounce.

•Matthews Thomas, indicted on two counts including aggravated child molestation, and statutory rape.

•Mackenzie Figueroa, indicted on two counts including burglary in the first degree, and theft by taking.

•Mackenzie Johnson, indicted for theft by taking.

•John Acosta, indicted on two counts including criminal attempt to commit a misdemeanor and computer pornography.

•Austin James Carden, indicted on two counts including aggravated assault, and simple battery, family violence.

•Jerry Crowe and Sandra Crowe, both indicted on two counts of sale of methamphetamine.

•Michael Bellamy, indicted for possession of firearm by convicted felon.

•Christopher Fowler, Jr., indicted for sale of methamphetamine.

•Sabrina Harp, indicted for terroristic threats.

•Donnie Joyce, indicted for failure to register as a sex offender.

•Shana Perez, indicted for aggravated assault with a no bill of theft by taking.
