Football Contest Begins Today!
The Monticello News football contest begins today!
Veteran players know what that means…but there may be some newbies out there.
A staple of football season in The Monticello News, the contest will run for 15 weeks, and will typically feature high school, college and professional football games. This week, however, the pros haven’t begun, so it is just high school and college.
The games are listed in sponsors ads on page 10 of Thursdays print edition. . Remember to shop our sponsors, and thank them if you enjoy the game. Without sponsors, there would be no contest.
For the contest, players merely select who they think will win each of the games listed, and write that on the entry form, found on page 10, or on a plain piece of paper. Then submit that entry to The News office no later than 5 p.m., Friday, Aug. 31. The deadline will be every Friday.
Entries may be submitted in person at 247 West Washington Street, Monticello, by fax to 706-468-6576, or by e-mail to info@themonticellonews.com.
The winner will be contacted each Monday, and will collect his or her prize and have his or her photo made on Monday or Tuesday following the contest.
Everyone who correctly guesses the winners of 12 or more games listed will have their names entered into the Grand Prize Honor Roll for a chance at four tickets to the Chick-Fil-A/Peach Bowl in Atlanta. In December, all those names will be entered into a hat, and a winner selected. The winner must be able to pick up his or her prize, or another name will be drawn.
There is no charge to play. We merely ask that entrants be at least five years old. We’re looking forward to kick-off! Please write legibly, and good luck!
