For the Second Week Contest Includes A Tie

TIFFANY KEY, JIMMY THIGPEN

A tie game messed up The Monticello News football contest for the second week in a row.

Players have to get 12 right to have their names added to the honor roll, and when there’s a tie, that means they have to get 12 out of 14 rather than 12 out of 15. Last week, several people thought they made the honor roll, cause they only missed three. Missing three, in addition to the tie, means you only have 11 right, and that’s not enough to get on the honor roll.

Jimmy Thigpen was the only player this week that got as many as 12 right to have his name added to the Grand Prize Honor Roll. He also collected a $25 prize from Tiffany Key at the office of Tricia Armistead, C.P.A., sponsor of the week. Another dozen players got 11 right.

This week, players get another chance to have their name added to the Grand Prize Honor Roll for getting 12 or more right. And one lucky, or smart, player will also get a $25 prize, this week from NAPA/Monticello Auto Parts, sponsor of the week.

Anyone can play, and anyone can win. It’s a combination of luck and skill, and on any Saturday…or Friday or Sunday, anything can happen. The football contest contains a mix of high school, college, and professional games. Players need only select who they think will win each of the 15 games listed. Then, in the tie-breaker space, put the number of total points you think will be scored in the game. The player with the most right will collect a $25 prize, and everyone with 12 or more right is added to the honor roll.

So, remember to right legibly, and submit you entry no later than 5 p.m. tomorrow, Sept. 14.

Winners should be available to pick up their prize and have their photo made on Monday or Tuesday of the following week. A player must be at least five to play, and the grand prize winner must pick up his prize himself.
