16 Make Honor Roll, Two Tie

TONY LEWIS (L), CHRISTOPHER RAE, GEORGE RAE

No games ended in a tie this week, but two players of The Monticello News football contest correctly guessed the winners of 13 games listed in the contest, and both hit the tie-breaker dead-on to tie for the win.

Madison Rae and Nelson Cullum each had 13 right, and each guessed 51 points would be scored in Piedmont’s loss to Southwest Georgia, which had a final score of 44-7. Therefore, both players met at Lewis and Malone Heating and Air Conditioning to determine a winner. Ms. Rae is a student at UGA in Athens, so she sent her father, George, and brother, Christopher to pick up her prize. Mr. Cullum came on his own.

However, Ms. Rae ended up being the winner, so she got the prize. For his efforts, Mr. Cullum received a t-shirt and cup from The Monticello News and a t-shirt from Lewis and Malone for his consolation prizes.

Both players are regular players, with other family members also getting involved.

Several other players also got 13 right, but were further off on the tie-breaker. They include Pat Bruno, Tanner Fletcher, Kevin Gaston, Karsyn Sewell, Sonja Tumlin, Jean Workman, and Phillips Workman. In addition, another seven people got 12 right to have their names also added to the Grand Prize Honor Roll.

At the end of the season, all names will be put in a hat and a winner will be drawn to receive four premium tickets to the Chick-Fil-A/Peach Bowl in Atlanta. Therefore, it is important to get on the honor roll.

This week, one lucky, or talented, player will pick up a $25 prize from Monticello Drugs/Dana Leach Realty, sponsor of the week. And, every player who correctly guesses the winner in 12 or more games listed will have his or her name added to the Grand Prize Honor Roll.
