Never Too Late Home Opens
On September 20, the Never Too Late, (NTL), home was approved and licensed by the state of Georgia as a Child Caring Institution. NTL has accepted its first placement this week.
Dr. John and Dr. Kelly DeGarmo will be NTL’s resident house family while the NTL Board of Directors search for the permanent house family. In addition to their other duties, the DeGarmo family has temporarily moved into NTL as volunteers to welcome and care for the first of many placements.
It was John and Kelly who had the vision for Never Too Late in 2015 to create a loving home for children in foster care. They personally have fostered over 50 children in their home but realized they could do even more with a residential child care home.
NTL was granted 501c3 status in 2015 and the Board of Directors have since raised funds to purchase the home, renovate it, and outfit it to house 16 children and prepare the home to pass the state’s licensing process. Fulfilling the state’s licensing process has been a long and extensive process.
All of the donations raised by the Board of Directors have been used to accomplish the licensing by the state of Georgia as a Child Caring Institution. NTL’s year-end income and expense statements and a proposed operating budget are available upon request.
Fundraising efforts, which have been on hold for the past year, are beginning again in earnest. NTL’s financial needs are urgent for ramping up the expected number of child placements and the hiring of a permanent house family.
