Only Three Make Honor Roll

It was another tough week for The Monticello News football contest, as only three names were added to the Grand Prize Honor Roll, and two of those people are in the same family.

James Greenway correctly selected the winners of 13 of the 15 games listed in last week’s Monticello News football contest. He also guessed 40 points would be scored on the tie-breaker, which was Piedmont’s loss to Crisp Academy, 34-6. His wife, Jess, also got 13 right, but was further off the tie-breaker, guessing 46 points would be scored.

However, it was Jess who picked up the prize from Adam McGinnis at Southern Edge Farm and Home, sponsor of the week. She is holding son, Cason, who is going to get the $25 prize in his savings account.

Both James and Jess, as well as their whole family, play the football contest every week, and Jess said all of them have won at some time or another.

Marene Brazil is the only other named added to the honor roll, as she got 12 right. Everyone else got 11 or less right.

The weekly prize almost went to Mrs. Brazil, as The News staff was unable to get in touch with Mr. Greenway Monday. Please remember to include a phone number on your entry where you can be reached during the day on Monday or we may have to move on to the next person.

It all happens again this week. Just turn to page 9 of today’s newspaper and find the football contest. Then fill out the form provided, or write your selection of winners on a separate piece of paper, and submit it to The Monticello News office no later than 5 p.m., tomorrow, Oct. 12. You can bring it in to 247 West Washington Street, fax it to 706-468-6576, or e-mail it to info@themonticellonews.com. Remember to write legibly and have it here on time.

Whoever correctly picks the winner of the most games listed—professional, college, and high school—will pick up a $25 prize from Venture Medical Associates, sponsor of the week.
