Drugs and Gun Are Seized

BAGGIES OF DRUGS, GUN AND MAGAZINE, PIPE ARE FOUND

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office Crime Suppression Unit conducted a traffic stop inside the city limits of Monticello on October 24. After a brief investigation, the driver of the vehicle was found to be in possession of a significant amount of methamphetamine, a loaded 9mm handgun and drug ingestion devices.

Michael Ralph Sizemore, 54, of Eatonton was arrested and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Methamphetamine w/ Intent to Distribute.

Deputies are now investigating several thefts, including two stolen vehicles reported in the last week—a Suburban and trailer were taken from a vacant lot on Herd’s Creek Road, and a Nissan 200SX was reportedly taken from an address on Hwy. 212. In addition, deputies are looking for a shotgun stolen from an address on Hwy. 142, and the perpetrator has been caught in both a shoplifting incident and an entering auto at the jail, where an inmate on a work crew entered an auto on the impound lot.

Other persons arrested this week, and their charges, include:

•Joshua Lamar Byrd, 18, Covington—disorderly conduct.

•Jaylon Amon Patrick, 22, Macon—false statements and writings, concealment of facts; possession of marijuana less than an ounce, improperly transferred plate; driving while license suspended/revoked and tail light violation.

•Oscar Henry Jenkins, 54, Monticello—cruelty to children third degree, battery, disorderly conduct, simple battery and probation violation.

•Kenneth Anthony Thurman, 55, Monticello—criminal trespass.

•Brandon Tyler Gray, 28, Covington—financial transaction card fraud and financial transaction card theft.

•James Thomas Russell, Jr., 22, Dublin—probation violation.

•Kristian Leilani Slavens, 18, Monticello— simple battery.

•Laura Jean Ramey, 48, Monticello—possession of methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

•Melinda Beth Hill, 40, Monticello—possession of methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
