Maurice J. Hammett, age 80, of Monticello passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018.

A funeral service will be held 4 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018 in the Lawrenceville Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home, the burial will follow at East Shadowlawn Memorial Gardens, Lawrenceville.

Mr. Hammett was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Lila Johnson Hammett; his wife, Evelyna Hammett; son, Terry Hammett; and grandson, Andrew Hammett.

He is survived by his son, Richard Hammett, Monticello; daughter, Angela Churchwell, Stone Mountain; brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Delores Hammett, Auburn; sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda Dillon, Auburn; June and Myron Hoophaugh, Auburn; Margie and Dennis Clay, Dacula; Freda Blackburn, Auburn; Beverly and Gary Braisted, FL; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends.
