Veteran Contest Player Gets 14 Right To WIn

Veteran football contest player Matt Tumlin has won before…but it’s been awhile. But this week he correctly guessed the winner of 14 out of 15 games listed to win the weekly prize. He also had to beat out several others who had 14 right by being closest on the tie-breaker.
Mr. Tumlin guessed 67 points would be scored in Georgia’s defeat of UMass, 66-27.
For his effort, he picked up a $25 prize from Miriam Yoder, at Yoder Door and Treez, sponsor of the week.
Mr. Tumlin walked in The News office Monday morning to pay his subscription renewal, before we had a chance to call him. He had worked on an ambulance the previous day. Mr. Tumlin typically heads up the contest entries at Jasper County High School where he teaches.
This week, a ton of people guessed the winner in 12 or more games listed, making the Grand Prize Honor Roll grow some more. Everyone whose name is on the honor roll has at least one chance at four premium tickets to the Chick-Fil-A/Peach Bowl in Atlanta on December 29. And, the winner of the grand prize must be able to pick it up in person.
This week, one lucky player will pick up a prize worth $25 from Abbey Hospice, sponsor of the week, during National Hospice Month.
The News office will close at noon, as usual, on Wednesday, Nov. 21, and remain closed until Monday, Nov. 26. Football contest entries may still be e-mailed and faxed in, or brought in person and left in the drop box on the front porch. Staff will check in periodically and collect the entries.
So, turn to the contest on page 9 of today’s paper, and guess the winners of the games listed. Be sure to submit it in some format no later than 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23.
Remember to write legibly and submit on time.
