Christmas Parade Set December 15

Anticipation is building for the first Light Up Monticello Christmas Parade on December 15th.

The celebration will begin at 10 a.m. with shopping at local businesses. At 3 p.m. the Monticello Civic Club will be hosting the Jack Yearwood Pancake Supper on the Square and the Get Ahead House will be selling hot dogs.

At 4 p.m. the lighted Christmas Parade will begin. The route for the parade will begin at the Monticello First United Methodist Church on College Street to West Washington Street where it will then travel down Washington Street to Southern Ave, turn beside the post office, and make the turn onto Greene Street and back to the Square before the returning to the Methodist Church.

At 5 pm, Santa will arrive (via parade) and visit with the children. After Santa arrives, there will be photos and cookies with him on the Square until 6:30.

Clubs, organizations, churches, bands, schools, businesses or storeowners are encouraged to have an entry in the parade. There will be prize money for the “Best of Show,” “1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place” entries.
