Mandi Tanner Takes Helm at COC

Mandi Tanner will take over as president/executive director for the Monticello-Jasper County Chamber of Commerce next week.
Mrs. Tanner will replace Pam Mayer who has served in that position for several years. Mrs. Mayer will stay on and work with Mrs. Tanner during the transition period, with Mrs. Tanner being on her own in January.
Katie Cannon will continue to work for the COC serving as tourism and event coordinator.
Mrs. Tanner said it should be fun, and is glad the board is supportive. Mrs. Tanner has served on the Board of Directors for the COC for two years, and in that time has really enjoyed being involved. Beyond being a board member, she has volunteered numerous Saturdays at the Market on the Square, and has helped with many activities the COC holds. She has been involved in most ribbon cuttings for the last two years or more and says she likes supporting small business and loves the concept of shopping small.
Mrs. Tanner most recently has been a full time director with Mary Kay cosmetics, which she intends to continue. She previously taught kindergarten at Jasper County Primary School for seven years.
She has taken numerous leadership classes both with Mary Kay and through the school system.
Mrs. Tanner is a graduate of Piedmont College in Demorest, where she met her husband, Wes Tanner. She said he played baseball and she played volleyball there. Mr. Tanner serves as youth minister at Monticello Baptist Church. They have two children, Harper, 7, and Hutson, 3.
