Helen Millen Stone
Helen Millen Stone, age 93, passed away Sunday, Dec.2, 2018, at Jasper Memorial Hospital.
Helen Stone was born in Monticello, to the late Reuben Lee Millen and Martha Mabel Edwards Millen. She attended GSCW, now known as Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville. She was married to John Marion Stone for 63 years, until his death in 2010.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by grandson, John Dewey Fisher; grandson-in-law, Brent Edge; and brothers, Vernon Millen, Ed Millen, Homer Millen, and Ronnie Millen.
Helen was a member of the Monticello First United Methodist Church and a former Kindergarten Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the Monticello Garden Club, and Jasper Memorial Auxiliary.
Small children were a joy to “Miss” Helen, and spent as much time as possible in their presence. She enjoyed sewing, yard work, flower gardening, and cooking.
During her 43 years with Jasper Memorial Hospital, Helen held many positions including Assistant Administrator before retiring.
She is survived by her children, Lee (Katrina) Stone of Norcross, Ann (Dewey) Fisher of Jackson Lake, and Jay Childers of Monticello; grandchildren, Amanda Edge, Joshua (Lori) Fisher, Jonah (Carrie) Fisher, Andrew (Annie) Fisher, Johna (David) Artessa, Jason (Joanna) Childers, and Ben (Ashley) Pendergraft; great-grandchildren, Joselyn Edge, Joseph Edge, Pearson Fisher, Ava Fisher, Oliver Fisher, Aleksandr Fisher, Theodore Fisher, Dixie-Anne Fisher, John Marion Fisher, Ella Artessa, Luca Artessa, Josie Childers, and Jaelyn Childers; sisters-in-law, Helen Whitehurst of Macon, Agnes Millen of Conyers, and Faith Millen of Oaks, Pa.; and friend and caregiver, Yvonne Sue Stone of Monticello.
Funeral services were to be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018, at the Monticello First United Methodist Church. Interment will be held in West View Cemetery. Revs. David Artessa and Dewey Fisher will officiate.
Serving as pallbearers will be Josh Fisher, Jonah Fisher, Andrew Fisher, Jason Childers, Ben Pendergraft, and John Whitehurst. Honorary pallbearer will be Joseph Edge.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1 p.m., Wednesday, Dec.r 5, 2018, at Monticello First United Methodist Church.
