Ruth Maynard Funderburke
Ruth Maynard Funderburke, age 80, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018, at Piedmont Newton Hospital.
Ruth Funderburke was born in Jones County to the late John Wesley Maynard and Susie Coulter Maynard. She was a lifelong resident of Jasper County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Maynard Moore.
Ruth was a member of New Rocky Creek Baptist Church, Ladies Sunday School Class, Piedmont Academy Grandparents Club, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She retired from the Jasper County Sheriff’s department where she worked as a dispatcher and jailer.
Ruth enjoyed cooking, reading and visits with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Julius O. Funderburke, of Monticello; daughter and son, Judy Couch of Monticello, and Bill (Paula) Funderburke of Lawrenceville; nephew, Larry Neal (Linda) Moore of Wayside; grandchildren, Jack (Tina) Couch, Kathy (David) Mercer, Carrie (Quenton) Williams, Daniel Couch, Wayland Couch, Nikki (Lance) Smith, William Funderburke, and Marshall Joy (Ryan) Gordon; great grandchildren, Andrew Couch Henderson, Zoey Dean, Ella Mercer, Addy Mercer, Emily (Zechariah) Heath, Cheyenne Bowman, Austin (Brittany) Bowman, Kora Williams, Storm Couch, Tessa Watson, Adelaide Gordon, and Grace Gordon; great, great grandchildren, Jaiden Dean, Felix Bowman, and Maci Heath.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, Nov. 30, 2018, at Hebron Cemetery. Dr. Randal Reese, Pastor John Strickland, and Pastor Earl Randall will officiate.
