Winner Is Closest on Tie=Breaker
Donna Massey, at the urging of her husband, began playing The Monticello News football contest some time ago, and some weeks he helps her pick the winners.
However, last week she picked the winners of each game listed in the football contest all by herself, and she did a pretty good job. She correctly guessed the winner of 12 games listed in last week’s contest, the most anyone got, and she was closest on the tie-breaker, guessing 62 points would be scored in the Georgia-Alabama game, which Alabama won, 35-28. It was a heartbreaker for the Georgia fans, and Mrs. Massey missed that one on her contest.
Five others made honor roll but they were further off on the tie-breaker.
For her effort, she picked up a $25 prize from Justin Dearro at Covington Ford, sponsor of the week. Her husband made the trip to Covington with her to get the prize, and she felt like he deserved recognition since he got her started playing.
So, folks, this is the last week. Get your name on the honor roll this week and have a chance at four premium tickets to the Chick-Fil-A/Peach Bowl in Atlanta on December 29 when Florida and Michigan battle it out.
This is your last chance. Next week we will run the honor roll, giving contestants a chance to check it, then a winner will be chosen.
So, sharpen your pencils, grab a newspaper and make your picks. Then, be sure to turn them in to The Monticello News office no later than 5 p.m. tomorrow, Dec. 7.
Entries may be brought to 247 West Washington Street, faxed to 706-468-6576 or e-mailed to info@themonticellonews.com. Whichever way they come, they need to be here by 5 p.m. Friday.
