Pair Is Arrested for Fraud

ITEMS USED IN CREDIT CARD/OTHER FRAUD

On December 5, Jasper County Sheriff’s Office Investigators, along with Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, executed a search warrant in Douglas County.

The search warrant stemmed from the fraudulent activity of numerous Jasper County citizens’ personal banking information. During the execution of the search warrant items such as credit card readers, credit card printers, computers, credit card embossing machines, and fraudulently made bank cards were recovered.

It is estimated that more than $5,000 of fraudulent transactions have affected Jasper County citizens but those totals will likely increase when additional victims and bank accounts are discovered.

The two suspects, Daishawn Damon Ryan, age 27, and Milgaina Laurent, age 25, were apprehended during the execution of the search warrant. Ryan currently has 55 charges and Laurent currently has 45 charges including Financial Transaction Card Fraud, Criminal Receipt of Goods or Services Fraudulently Obtained, Forgery of a Financial Transaction Card, Deposit Account Fraud, and Financial Identity Fraud.

The investigation is still ongoing and will be a joint operation between Jasper County and Douglas County.
