Piedmont Shotgun Team Competes in Savannah

Piedmont Academy’s shotgun team competed at the Forest City Gun Club in Savannah recently and finished seventh overall among the 20 schools competing.

Team members fired 300 total rounds including 100 each of skeet, trap and sporting clays. The top varsity shooters included Drew Maddox (262), Eli Waits (252) and Owen Brady (246).

Maddox was the top trap shooter during the Dec. 7-8 event with 95-of-100. Waits led Piedmont in skeet with 91-of-100 as well as sporting clays with 84-of-100.

Also competing in the varsity competition were Drake Coody, Will Parker, Madison Sanders, Tanner Locklear and Cody Vaughn.

“The weather was very cold and windy but all of the kids did exceptionally well despite the conditions,” said coach Stacy Waits. “I am very proud of all of the kids and would like to thank all of the parents for their help. I look forward to another great season next year.”
