Jessie James McElheney

A celebration of life for Jessie James McElheney was held Saturday, Dec. 29, at Concord Primitive Baptist Church in Monticello. Elder Henry Terry, pastor, officiated.

Mr. McElheney was born on July 6, 1954 to the late Annie Louse McElheney and Jahazer Catchings, Jr. He departed this life at Jasper Memorial Hospital in Monticello on December 23, 2018.

Mr. McElheney attended Jasper County schools and was later employed at Bibb Manufacturing Company and Feldspar Corporation until his health began to fail. Listening to oldies, gospel music, hunting, playing cards and barbecuing were among things that he enjoyed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Ann McElheney, and two brothers, Joseph Tripp McElheney and Robert Rusks.

Mr. McElheney leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Bonnie McElheney of Eatonton; three daughters, Shanthea McElheney (Charles) of Monticello; Shaneca Buckner ((Tracy), of Eatonton, and Rijunite McElheney (Jamell) of Crawfordville; a son, DeAngelo McElheney (Joann) of Eatonton; three sisters, Mary McElheney (Aubrey), Delphine Farley of Eatonton, and Elizabeth Smith (David) of Newborn; a brother, Albert McElheney of Atlanta; eight grandchildren,, DeAsia Tanesha, Armani, Alexia, Jamaralin, Jacorian, Daaylan, and Dillon; two great-grandchildren, Carson and Arianna; a devoted friend, Sally Ann Driskell, a special cousin, Billy Jo Clark, and a host of nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

Burial was in Concord Church Cemtery.

Pallbearers were Joseph McElheney, Michael Frankin, Michael Hope, Ulysses Driskell, Leroy Hardwick, and Eddie Berry.

Flower ladies were Sharna McElheney, Trina Hope, Katrina Grier, Martha Ann Willis, and Irene Cargile.

Smith and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrrangements.
