Judge Settles Several Cases

Judge Alison Burleson presided over the arraignment and motion day calendars in Jasper Superior Court last Tuesday.

Ethan Todd Riggs was sentenced to eight years with the first 10 days in confinement for five charges including theft by receiving stolen property, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, driving while license suspended, failure to maintain lane and improper display of license plates.

One count of driving without a license was nolle prossed. He was credited for time served since July 2018. After serving 10 days of confinement, the defendant may serve the remainder of his sentence on probation. In addition to a court fine of $1,500 the defendant must also pay restitution in the amount of $2,777.

John Byron Reinhart was sentenced to 15 years with the first day in Jasper County jail for possession of methamphetamine and marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled substance, and driving under the influence (less safe). Following the day in jail, the reminder may be served on probation. He was credited with time served since April 2016 and fined $2,000 in court fees.

Bennie Morris, sentenced to 12 months of probation for possession of a drug related object. He was fined $500.

Randall H. Hester, revoked to two years in the state penal system for committing new offenses of identity fraud, giving false information to a law enforcement officer, and theft of lost or stolen property in Clayton County in November 2018. He also failed to report a change of residence, failed to complete substance abuse evaluation, failed to pay court fines, and failed to complete community service. He was credited with time served since July 2018.

Owen Davis, revoked to 115 days in Jasper County jail for failure to adhere to conditions as a registered sex offender. He was credited with time served since September 2018.

Marchinlo Wyman, revoked to 45 days in Jasper County jail for two positive drug tests, failure to complete substance abuse evaluation, and failure to pay court fees. He was given 30 days to complete substance abuse evaluation.

Brandon Cox, received credit for time served in Putnam County jail and banished from the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit. Instructed that any future violations would give the court authority to revoke balance of probation to confinement.

Bond orders were established for Billy Gafford and Jennifer Weathers whereas Daishawn Ryan and Milgania Laurent, both had multiple charges involving financial transaction fraud, were denied bond orders.

Superior Court cases against Kenneth Anderson, Oliver Cotton, and Michael Cook were dead docketed.
