Ruth Shiver Hutchins

Ruth Shiver Hutchins, age 79, passed away at home in Monticello on Friday, Jan. 25, 2019 surrounded by family.

Born in Brooks County, Ga. on April 21, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Henry Webster Shiver, and Violet Juanita Phillips Shiver.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Lori Dick, brother, Wallace Webster Shiver, and daughter, Ruth Rowann Johnson.

Ruth was a big truck owner operator for many years— a job she and her husband the late James Hutchins enjoyed together. She loved the coast to coast travel and the beauty of God’s creations as they drove all 48 states and Canada.

She is survived by a son, Russell D. Johnson and wife Susan of Monticello; son, Ronnie Jack Shiver of Albany, seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be held in South Georgia at a date to be determined. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
