Persons Are Arrested

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) had a light week last week, when it comes to thefts.

Last Wednesday some chain saws were reported stolen from an address on Hwy. 142. In addition, there was a report of theft of lost or mislaid property where someone lost $40 at Ingles. No other thefts were reported in the last week.

However, a number of people were arrested during that time. They, along with their charges, include:

•Ernest Michael Scott, 42, Newborn—probation violation.

•Geobran Minus Downs, 31, Marietta—fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, failure to stop for stop sign, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, open container, speeding, driving on the wrong side of the road and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

•Dustin Travis Jeffrey, 24, Monticello—speeding and no license.

•Jon Francis Price, 25, Newborn—possession of a Schedule I controlled substance (2 counts).

•Samantha Kelly Ashworth, 29, Monticello—possession of marijuana less than an ounce and possession of methamphetamine (two counts).

•Randy Lamar Lewis, 49, Monticello—possession of marijuana less than an ounce and possession of methamphetamine (two counts).

•Vashon Leon Traylor, 29, Monticello—failure to appear bench warrant (four counts) and violation of probation (three counts).
