Qualifying for Special Election Is Next Week

Qualifying for the special election to elect a new Probate Judge and District 4 County Commissioner will be held next Wednesday, Feb. 13, beginning at 9 a.m., and will continue until Friday, Feb. 15, at noon.

Thus far, one person has announced his or her intentions to run for each office. Andrea Brown, who now serves as Probate Judge after the retirement of Linda M. Keller, and Gerald Stunkel have announced their intentions to run. If the races are not contested, there will be no election.

If there is an election, only District 4 voters would vote on the County Commission post, although the Probate Judge post is countywide.

The election will be held Tuesday, March 19. The deadline to register to vote for the election is Tuesday, Feb. 19.
