Hwy. 83 South Closed at RR Tracks

Norfolk Southern Railroad will be performing maintenance repairs to the railroad crossing on Georgia 83 just southwest of the Ocmulgee River bridge in Monroe County on Wednesday, Feb. 13 and Thursday, Feb. 14.

The roadway will be closed at the crossing for the duration of the activity, and a detour will be installed.

According to state policy, the detour must be able to accommodate large vehicles like semi-trucks, and utilizes US 23/Georgia 87 and Georgia 16. Motorists are urged to be alert to the signage and to lower their speeds if unfamiliar with the detour route.
