MS Canes to Play Rex Mill Saturday

The Jasper County Middle School Hurricanes will play in the Georgia Elite 32 Middle School State Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 23 against Rex Mill Middle School at 7 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Middle School in Covington.

The team was invited to enter the tournament just prior to winning the Piedmont Athletic Conference middle school championship title a few weeks ago.

Head Coach Keldrick Davis is looking to take the season’s momentum into the tourney and see how his squad matches up with the other seven teams invited to compete. A win for the young Canes Friday evening will have them competing in the semifinals on Saturday, March 2 against the winner of Oak Hill and Veterans Middle with the final played at 5 p.m. that day.

In addition to the squads listed, Marion, Clements, Pebblebrook and Liberty Middle Schools will also compete in the tournament.

Cost of admission is $7 for adults and $5 for kids.
