Mrs. Lois Idella Henderson
A celebration of life for Mrs. Lois Idella Henderson, who died March 6, 2019, was held March 14, at Midway Independent Church in Shady Dale. Rev. Terry Glawson officiated. Interment was in Midway Independent Church Cemetery.
Lois Idella Henderson was born February 14, 1934 to the late Marie Rogers Jackson of Kelly.
She was preceded in death by a brother, James Jackson; husband, William Thomas Henderson and godson, Willie James Freeman.
Mrs. Henderson was a faithful member of Midway Independent and Midway C.M.E. Church her entire life where she served as President of the Usher Board for more than 30 years, training others for service in the church. She was widely known throughout the community for making the best sweet potato pies, cobblers, and such. All who passed through her doors were made toe feel welcome and at home. You never left her table hungry.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories, a daughter, Lorraine Henderson of Covington; a granddaughter, Tara Alicia Henderson of Mableton; a godson, Willie Lewis Wright; a goddaughter, Bessie Wright; four God-sisters, one god-brother and a host of other godchildren and god-grandchildren. A grandmother to all the neighborhood children and a friend to many,.
Family members served as pallbearers and family members and the Class of 19068 were flower bearers.
Smith and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
