Piedmont Excels at Flint River Meet

The Piedmont Academy track teams both took first place at a meet hosted by Flint River Academy in Woodbury last week.

The Lady Cougars compiled 61 team points while boys were first with an impressive 89 overall points.

Several Piedmont athletes earned first place in their respective events. For the Lady Cougars Haley Ann Frank (high jump), Sydney Stroud (long jump and 100-meter dash), Gracie Hunt (400-meter dash), Frank, Stroud, Emily Mills and Morton (4×100-meter relay) and Hannah Tyler (100-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles) all took first.

Second place finishes for the Lady Cougars included Madison McCart (high jump), MaLynne Webb (shot put), Morton (triple jump), Lucy Tuggle (discus), Jayden Young( 300-meter hurdles and 200-meter dash), Melanie Koroffa (800-meter run) and Frank, Mills, Hunt and Young (4×400-meter relay).

Sydney Davis was third in the 100-meter dash while Young (shot put), Webb (discus) and Neely Bradford (200-meter dash) were fourth.

For the boys Clay Jones (high jump), JT Webb (shot put),Tate Marks (long jump), Spencer Carter (triple jump), Jakobe Tremblay (discus), Trent Coots (800-meter run, 1,600-meter run and 3,200-meter run), Tanner Locklear (100-meter dash and 200-meter dash), John Reasoner (110-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles) and Caleb Faircloth, Sam Wright, Owen Brady and Webb (4×400-meter relay) all took first place.

Wright (high jump), Joe Clark (triple jump), Carter (3,200-meter run), Marks (100-meter dash), Faircloth (400-meter dash), Clark (300-meter hurdles), Ryan Holder (800-meter run), Chase Porter, Rob Allgood, Reasoner (4×400-meter relay) were each second.

Allgood (shot put), Brady (400-meter dash) and Marks (200-meter dash) finished third while Matthew Griffin (shot put) and Sam Younker (long jump) were fourth.
