Diamond Cougars Earn Win

Piedmont Academy’s varsity baseball team made quick work of LaGrange Academy last week and is currently on spring break.

The Diamond Cougars will return to action next week with a perfect region record. Piedmont defeated the visiting Warriors 15-0.

Coach Colt Spivey noted all 20 players on the roster were able to see time on the field.

“It was good for our younger guys who had an opportunity to execute,” the coach said. “Our starters went out and did what they were supposed to do so it was a good afternoon for the entire team.”

Piedmont will host Flint River Academy Tuesday at 5 p.m.

“This week will give us a chance to rest and then we really have to step up our play,” Spivey said. “We have several non-region games against quality opponents. We made the non-region schedule tougher for this season so it would help us in the playoffs.”

The Cougars are halfway through their regions schedule and are 3-0. Piedmont is the favorite to finish first in the region. Overall the Cougars are 8-3.
