PLAY BALL!

Field 1 at Jasper County Recreation Department was dedicated to the memory of Marcus Davis during a ceremony held Tuesday evening. Mr. Davis was a long-time coach at the recreation department and died suddenly earlier this year. It was a blow to the community, and this was one way to mark his legacy. Pictured at the field (top photo) are his widow, Amanda Davis, and his son, Deshaun. On Saturday, opening day was celebrated with hundreds of visitors to the field for a a parade of teams around the field, and the throwing out of the first pitch by Jasper County’s Citizen of the Year Terry McMichael.
